Alternatives to Food for Stress Relief?

Motto

Food
Finesser

None

Thinner than Average, happier with present weight, less history of weight  difficulties. Objective, thinks things through, and prefers working alone rather than in groups. Able to use intuition as needed.

Weightlifting

"Everything in Moderation"

Choco-
maniac

Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, and sweets.

Average weight, but tends to yoyo up and down due to chocolate and sweets binges. Compassionate, sensitive, uses gut feelings or emotions often to make decisions. Social, and has difficulty saying 'no' so is overwhelmed with time pressures. Focus on time management and the 'simple things' like learning to say 'no',  practicing smiling, and drinking herbal tea. "When the Going Gets Tough, The Tough Eat Chocolate”

French Fry

Very vulnerable to fatty, fried, starchy, and salty foods.

Not very vulnerable to chocolate and sweets.

Heavier than average, but doesn't necessarily 'yoyo' up and down.  Objective, outgoing, but has more anger due to work and family pressures.   More responsive to stress management than most.  Learning to leave problems at work, listening skills training, anger management training, reading.

"Yes, I would like fries with that, thanks"

Food
for
Fun

Triggered by most good tasting foods.

Distinguished by a greater number of trigger foods rather than any particular trigger category.

Heaver than average, but thinner than the French Fry.  Yoyo's up and down due to binges.  Compassionate, sensitive, tends to speak mind freely.  Primary source of stress is boredom.  (But also some time pressures - from taking on too much to avoid feeling bored!) Greatest relief comes from learning to break down and prioritize tasks.  Secondarily from reducing interruptions.

"I'm bored!  What do you have to eat?"

Carbo Craver

Triggered by Starches and Salty Snacks.

Better control than average for any trigger food containing fat (nuts, fast foods, etc)

Thinner than average.  Less likely to have yoyo'd up and down.  A little less social than others - sometimes has difficulty meeting new people, or is just less interested.  More likely to own cats. Exercising (Aerobics, Weightlifting, Flexibility Training)

Supplementation
(Vitamins and Herbs)

"Pass the
pasta please"
